Coaching is a career choice. It is a proper job (don’t let others tell you it’s not!).
I chose coaching as a career. I didn’t fall into it. I chose it. I did A levels, then a degree and now 30 years of coaching and coach education. I love coaching. I get a buzz from coaching every time I walk on court and work with players.
My career has been based on my philosophy of being enthusiastic, energetic and organised. I continue to study or analyse something related to coaching nearly every day.
I will let you into a little secret, I feel apprehensive and nervous every time I step on court. And so should you. Wanting the best from your performance every day is important and that should make you feel this way.
Coaches drive participation and improve performance. We need more coaches and particularly female coaches in the sport.
